Make sure to experience the 1000 Islands up close!

Even if you only have a short-time in the 1000 Islands, make sure to see the islands up close. Our half-day guided trips are beginner-friendly and our guides are nationally certified. No experience is necessary.

Each half-day trip begins with an introduction to your instructor, your gear and a brief on-water lesson. For the beginner, you will be introduced to new concepts and for the intermediate, your instructor will help you improve your stroke technique and provide helpful tips. Although our boats are very stable and comfortable, your guide will always be close to lend a helping hand.

Half-day guided trips must be pre-booked and depart from our Gananoque waterfront location at 110 Kate Street in Gananoque.

Trips include…

  • Touring kayaks and all safety equipment
  • certified guides with an introductory lesson at the beginning of the trip
  • dry bags to bring extra clothing and personal items

Times: 8:30 am to 11:30 am -or- 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm daily; plus Sunset Tours on Wednesday through Saturday evenings from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm (June 30 – Sept 3) Note: there is a Sunset tour offered on Sunday Sept 3.

Prices: Adults: $110 + tax/fees • Youth: $75 + tax/fees.

Arrival

All tours start at 1000 Islands Kayaking facility at 110 Kate St. in Gananoque. We recommend guests arrive 15 -20 minutes before the tour’s “start time” to give yourselves a few minutes to check-in, use the public washroom nearby,  and put on sunblock. We are unable to provide onsite storage so please leave any valuables safely in your car. You should bring a water bottle so you can stay hydrated throughout the tour – your guide will have a fresh supply of water to refill your bottle during the tour. Just a reminder, the parking is not directly on the premises, so you should allow extra time to find and pay for a parking spot for your vehicle. Most parking spots are within a 5-minute walk of the facilities. Because all of our tours are arranged at specific times to ensure a full experience on the water, we will start each tour at the time listed on our schedules.

Introductions

Once everyone is together, you will be introduced to your guide who will get you outfitted in a PFD (personal flotation device, or “life jacket”). We recommend waterproof cases for any electronics you would like to bring.  We do have drybags if you want to bring an extra fleece or sweater.  As our tours operate rain-or-shine, consider bringing a rain / wind jacket for your use.

Boat Preparation

When you are dressed and ready for the tour, your guide will take you to the boats where they will outline the safety features of the boat and help you adjust the seat and foot pedals to make you comfortable. Before we launch, your guide will go over a short kayak instruction lesson to give you the basics of paddling as well as an overview of what to do in the very unlikely event that you tip your boat over. Rescues and re-entry is much easier than you’d imagine, and our guides will make sure you feel confident about what to do, and how they will help you.

Go Paddling!

Introductions, outfitting and instruction complete, we will head off to the Admiralty Islands for three hours of paddling and exploring! Whether it is calm or a little windy, there is nothing more beautiful than the 1000 Islands. Be ready to explore the treasures of the Admiralty Islands, and get some fresh air and exercise.

Below is what you need to bring with you for your day trip. You may also want to bring a change of clothes for after your day on the water.
